How To Consign

CONSIGNMENT:  You may bring items in anytime during open hours.  No appointment is necessary.  Up to 20 items may be brought in for consignment upon your first visit and, thereafter, every 2 weeks.  An annual account maintenance fee of $5.00 will be charged for all accounts.  Clothing and other items for consignment must be in new or like-new condition and still in fashion for today’s trends.  Items must be clean and stain-free for a successful visit.  Please inspect your items before bringing them in.  What you should look for are broken zippers, missing buttons, holes or tears, deodorant stains, animal hair and foul odors.  At times, we may decline items based on age, condition or our inventory stock at the time.  Store personnel will determine what has “sale-ability” in the store.

PRICING:  Consigned items are priced by UPTOWN ATTIC.  A general pricing guideline is 30% - 60% off of the original retail price.  In-store sales and promotions will run periodically.  Continuous promotions include:  15% off regular priced items to current consignors (i.e. consignment of items in an 18 month period) and 10% off regular priced items to college students (with a valid college i.d.) and senior citizens (65 years and over).

THE SPLIT:  UPTOWN ATTIC retains 60% of the item’s selling price.  The consignor retains 40% of the item’s selling price.  Note: for your convenience, you may check the status of your items and account on-line at www.uptownattic.net by putting in your name and account number in the login box on the home page and following the prompts from there. Consignors may choose to use their account credit for store merchandise or request a payout.  Payouts are issued to consignors once every 30 days with a store check.  Accounts must have a credit of $5.00 or more for a check to be issued.  Consignors are required to pick up their check in person and have proper i.d. available.

EXPIRED ITEMS & DONATION:  Consigned items stay on the sales floor for 90 days.  After the 90 day period, you may choose to donate any unsold items or pick them up. Items that are not being donated must be picked up by the consignor within 7 days after their selling period has ended.  Any items not picked up within 7 days become the property of UPTOWN ATTIC. Please mark your calendar for this date as we do not send out reminders.

LIABILITY:  UPTOWN ATTIC, Inc., does not assume liability for any consigned items that may become lost, stolen or damaged while on the premises.  Policy is subject to change at any time without notice.  All transactions and disputes will take place in Gardiner, N.Y.
